We are happy to announce that the first printing of the Safe Life Project curricula is now available. We have also received a private donation that will allow us to offer the curricula at a significantly reduced price for a short time (Beginning Level $35, Intermediate Level $125, Advanced Level $125).

The Safe Life Project curricula promotes student succes by addressing physical, social and emotional well-being of students through teaching self-determination, abuse awareness and personal safety skills to students with developmental disabilities.  The materials can also be adapted to other populations of students.

Safe Life curricula components include lesson guide, teacher notes, dvd slide shows, dvd video clips, many interactive skill practice activities, additional teaching materials and resources, Individualized Educational Program (IEP) goals and assessments (all aligned with the California Standards and Frameworks), and music CDs to reinforce lesson concepts.

Curricula materials have been developed at three different levels. Each level contains 12 lessons. The lesson concepts are the same at each level, but concept presentation varies by age-appropriate delivery. Students build on and maintain the skills they develop from the Beginning Level through Intermediate Level and then through the Advanced Level. Materials are available for purchase at a reduced rate as listed below:

  • $35 Beginning Level (grades K-3), 1 binder containing 12 lessons
  • $125 Intermediate Level (grades 4-8), 12 lessons divided between 3 binders
  • $125 Advanced Level (grades 7-12), 12 lessons divided between 3 binders
  • $285 Complete Curricula (grades K-12) includes all 7 binders

*Curricula levels may overlap depending on the needs of the students.

This first printing of the curricula has some errors.  None should prevent instructors from delivering lessons. To place an order call either Stacey Hoffman at (916) 718-2870 or Susan Whaley at (916) 996-2188. We will appreciate feedback on lesson content and any errors that are encountered so that they can be corrected for the next printing.  More information is available on our website: safelifeproject.org.

Again, we thank you for addressing the problem of abuse among individuals with disabilities.

Warmest Regards,

Susan and Stacey
