SAFE LIFE COALITION WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS

 

Workshop and training topics vary in length and are chosen depending on specific needs.

Topics may include:

    • Information on the degree of abuse among people with disabilities
    • Rights and Responsibilities
    • Problem Solving
    • Identifying and Reporting Abuse
    • Appropriate Social Relationships
    • Effective teaching strategies to use with individuals with disabilities

 

WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS FOR EDUCATORS, AGENCY STAFF AND SCHOOLS

May include:

    • Workshop reference packets for each participant
    • Tools and materials for persons with disabilities to use – providing them with support for learning to problem solve and report problems to reduce their risk of abuse
    • Effective teaching strategies to use with individuals with disabilities
    • Interactive practice in conducting abuse prevention workshops

 

WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

May include:

    • Workshop reference packets for each participant
    • Tools and materials for individuals with disabilities to use – providing them with support to problem solve and report problems, to reduce their risk of abuse
    • Skill assessment
    • Practice and facilitated opportunity to use learned skills

 

WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS FOR FAMILIES AND CARE PROVIDERS

May included:

§ Workshop reference packets for each participant

§ Tools and materials for children/consumers with disabilities to use - providing them with support to problem solve and report problems, to reduce their risk of abuse

§ Tools and materials to use to facilitate safety skill practice opportunities for children/consumers with disabilities

§ Tools and materials to use with children/consumers with disabilities to help facilitate opportunities for them to develop appropriate relationships  

Safe Life Workshop/Training/Consultation Team rate is $100 per hour plusany travel and material expenses.

MATERIALS

Safe Life curricula components include lesson guide, teacher notes, dvd slide shows, dvd video clips, many interactive skill practice activities, additional teaching materials and resources, Individualized Educational Program (IEP) goals and assessments (all aligned with the California Standards and Frameworks), and music CD to reinforce lesson concepts.

 

Curricula materials have been developed at three different levels.  Each level contains 12 lessons.  The lesson concepts are the same ateach level, but concept presentation varies by age-appropriate delivery. Students build on and maintain the skills they develop from the Beginning Level through the Advanced Level. The first printing of the materials are CURRENTLY available at a reduced price due to a private donation. Prices will change when current curricula supply runs out and we have to print more materials.

 

Ø  $35 Beginning Level (grades K-3), 1 binder containing 12 lessons 

Ø  $125 Intermediate Level (grades 4-8), 12 lessons divided between 3 binders

Ø  $125 Advanced Level (grades 7-12), 12 lessons divided between 3 binders

Ø  $285 Complete Curricula (grades K-12) includes all 7binders

*Curricula levels may overlap depending on the needs of the students.

(This first printing of the curricula does have some errors.  None should prevent you from delivering lessons. We will appreciate your feedback on lesson content and any errors that you encounter so that they can be corrected for the next printing.)
