Personal Safety, Abuse Prevention, Reporting, Skills for Safe & Healthy Relationships & Overall Well-Being

Safe Life Classes Are Ongoing – In Person and Online

 

In Person – Sacramento, California & Surrounding Areas, Online Classes All Locations

 

Most classes include 1 session per week for 12 weeks

Most classes include 90 minutes of classroom instruction session & skill practice &

30 minutes for class evaluations, student data evaluations, support person communication & individualized planning for next class

All classes are limited to 12 participants.

Some classes are limited to 6 participants.

Safe Life Classes empower individuals with disabilities (developmental and other, including autism) with skills to make positive choices and decisions.

The objectives for clients are:

  • To learn why self-determination, abuse awareness, personal safety, reporting skills, appropriate relationships, and civic responsibilities are needed.

  • To receive information, tools/strategies that can be used to address physical well-being, emotional well-being, social well-being and civic well-being.

  • To practice and apply learned safety, abuse prevention and decision-making skills in daily living environments with regard to physical well-being, emotional well-being, social well-being and civic well-being.

Twelve Lesson Topics At Each Skill Level Area

Lesson topics are the same at each level but concepts are presented at age-appropriate level for age appropriate skills development.

Classes Formed by
Age & Ability Levels

  • Level 1 (usually ages 3-6)

  • Level 2 (usually ages 6-9)

  • Level 3 (usually ages 9-12)

  • Level 4 (usually 12-15)

  • Level 5 (usually 15-18)

  • Level 6 (usually ages 18+)

Instruction Includes

  • Skill development

  • Opportunity to apply and practice skills
  • Slide shows with age appropriate video clip examples to engage students
  • Real life age-appropriate examples to engage students

  • Music as a learning tool – themed lesson topic music at age appropriate levels

  • Tools for problem solving, reporting problems, making safe and appropriate social plans

The mission of the Safe Life Project is to establish programs that offer individualized skill development classes, real opportunities to apply learned skills, and resources to individuals with disabilities, including autism, their families, support persons, and educators throughout California, the USA, and ultimately across the globe.
